Detroit conduit FAFSA
The Detroit College Access Network (DCAN), in partnership with the Jamie and Denise Jacob Family Foundation, and Strategic Community Partners (SCP), is establishing a Detroit College Access Network (DCAN) Community Hub model across four quarters in the city of Detroit. The implementation of these Community Hubs will take an equity-focused approach, with Hubs spread across geographic locations and populations within the city to maximize accessibility and use of the Hub’s services. These Hubs will provide new programming to support college and career access and success, while amplifying and providing a storefront for current and future DCAN programming. The DCAN Hubs will be community-led and DCAN-owned. The Hubs will provide the space and infrastructure to better align the work of DCAN and its partners, bringing together key college access and success organizations across the city to promote lessons learned and best practices.
We have established a Community Advisory Board composed of various thought leaders across Detroit including students, parents, community based organizations, secondary and post-secondary partners to inform programming. We have also developed a three year launch plan, and begun to hire Hub staff to help build out program offerings of the Hub. Lastly we have held our first community town hall over the summer.
We look forward to launching the first Hub in early 2024, and hope to see you there!
